To achieve technically and commercially suitable lightweight production based on fibre-reinforced plastics and multi-material systems, an integrated approach is required. Due to the almost unlimited possibilities of combining different materials and the very complex interactions between materials, component design, manufacturing processes and the machinery and plant components, an optimal production process requires a direct link between material sciences, process engineering and production technology.
