As part of the 18th Aachen Body Engineering Days (AKT) hosted by fka GmbH on September 16th–17th, 2025, Warden Schijve, Design Leader at AZL Aachen GmbH, will present recent developments in the design and evaluation of battery housing concepts.
With the title “Metal and composite material concepts for fire safe battery casings”, his presentation will highlight AZL’s latest work on aluminium-steel, stainless steel and hybrid composite casings aimed at cost-effective fire protection. In addition to structural concepts, Warden will introduce a newly developed, easy-to-use analysis method to predict thermal propagation in battery packs, considering different cell chemistries and insulation materials. The presentation will also touch on AZL’s ongoing refinement of experimental methods to benchmark the fire resistance of materials against current and emerging battery technologies.
The AKT 2025 offers a high-level platform for experts in body, material and production technology to exchange on current challenges and future developments in vehicle design. More details on the lecture program and exhibition can be found on the website.
