Follow-Up Workshops on “High-Speed RTM Matrices” and “Back-Moulding of Thermoplastic Tailored Preforms”
Follow-Up Workshop “HIGH-SPEED RTM MATRICES”
Time and Venue
March 24th, 2015
9:00h – 13:00h
Fraunhofer IPT, “Hörsaal”
Steinbachstr. 17, 52074 Aachen
Short description of the workshop
What was discussed at the last workshop?
Implementation of standards, like a standardized material
data sheet (MDS) was suggested to accelerate product
development processes and to realize a more industrialized composite market. An overview and analysis of existing RTM-MDS was given and discussed.
- Relevant design data for effective simulations has to be defined
- Many ordinary material test standards are not extensive for the RTM process design neither part design
- Balance between an all-information and an easy-to-use concept is needed
Scope of the workshop
- To give an overview of simulation models and the draft of a standardized MDS to derive the needs for a more efficient material election and process adaption
- Definition of drawbacks and approaches about the ascertainment of parameters for reaction kinetics and flow simulations (i.p. shrinkage, viscosity of high reactive materials)
- Discussion about standard laminates, product groups or demonstrators
Structure of the workshop
- Keynote presentations of the AZL partners to give impulse for the use, difficulties and need of specific material data and process input values
- AZL/IKV presentation of evaluated simulation models, methods to characterize resin properties and the standardized MDS
- Workshop/practical part allowing discussions
