Follow-Up Workshops on “High-Speed RTM Matrices” and “Back-Moulding of Thermoplastic Tailored Preforms”
Follow-Up Workshop “High-Speed RTM Matrices”
Content and Aim
What was discussed at the last workshop?
The last AZL workshop on „High-Speed RTM Matrices”
addressed the problem that RTM data sheets are often
inconsistent and complicate development processes in the industry.
The aim of this series of workshops is to develop a concept for the standardization of these data sheets.
What has been done in the meantime?
- Interviews with experts (material supplier, machine supplier, designer)
- Analysis and overview of existing data sheets (incl. different test standards)
- Identification and definition of relevant parameters/information related to the development and production stages (design, simulation, machinery, process)
What is the content of this follow-up workshop?
At the Follow-Up Workshop on the 7th of November the AZL presents the status quo of the development of a standardized data sheet which addresses the following discussions about the need of specific material information or test standards and the further progress of the concept development.

Follow-Up-Workshop “Back-Moulding of Thermoplastic Tailored Preforms”
Content and Aim
What was discussed at the last workshop?
At the last workshop on “Back-Moulding of Thermoplastic Tailored Preforms“, two fields of interests could be identified after collecting the expectations from the consortium:
- Commercial-technical benchmark: integrated one-shot process vs. two-step value chain
- Methodology for the optimal usage of thermoplastic hybrid composites
What has been done in the meantime?
- Interviews with experts (material supplier, machine supplier, thermoformer, molder)
- Finding answers to: Where are the “limits” for the two process chain types regarding part performance, complexity and quality?
- What are the cost drivers for each process chain type?
What is the content of this workshop?
At the Follow-Up Workshop on the 7th of November a presentation of the state of the art with an analysis of parameter interactions is given. Furthermore an analysis regarding exemplary products with different specifications is presented. This input is to be discussed with the workshop participants.
