Our research partner AZL of RWTH Aachen University has successfully completed the project of the BMBF project “OPTO-Light” on function-integrated CFRP lightweight structures
The Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL) of the RWTH Aachen University has presented the developed technologies of the BMBF project “OPTO-Light”: Photonics-capable production of function-integrated CFRP lightweight constructions made of plastics of the same type, in the machine hall of the AZL of the RWTH Aachen University. Together with the project partners BMW AG, KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH, ARGES GmbH, Precitec GmbH & Co. KG, Sensortherm GmbH and Zeiss Optotechnik GmbH, the Aachen Centre for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL) has demonstrated a new process and its mechanical implementation with a demonstrator component from the current BMW i3, a carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy resin shell element and a glass fiber-reinforced PA6 ribbed structure.
