The Atlas HPE 110 and Atlas F 60 products developed by MG Europe, adopted life cycle analysis (LCA) analysis, became the first foam of its kind to be granted with an EPD in The International EPD System and its net of mutual recognitions. | NewsLIGHT #15 | NMG
NMG Europe is a company that researches, develops, produces and markets proprietary rigid polymer foams and core materials for structural and semi structural applications. It started as a small enterprise located in Gorizia (Italy), afterwards it was incorporated in 2016 as part of an international group, NMG Composites Ltd, committed to providing high quality solutions to the composites industry. The headquartered is in China with subsidiaries in Asia and USA, the group serves its customers around the world with a more-than-10-years successful track-record.
According with World Wind Energy Association all wind turbines installed by end of 2019 can cover more than 5% of the global electricity demand. Wind energy has a promising future but has to face some major challenges in order to gain competitiveness versus non-renewable energy and to guarantee a sustainable development.
As raw materials supplier to the wind industry we can support the whole wind value chain targeting these needs with innovative core materials with a reliable mechanical profile, including fatigue behaviour and controlled resin absorption.
With the aim to meet the needs of our customers, by using our deep experience in manufacturing and testing core materials, we also set a test method to model the resin absorption of our product based on commonly used procedures in order to analyse its environmental impact as final sandwich panel.
NMG Europe adopted Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), described in the internationally accepted EN-ISO 14040 series, as basis for environmental declarations and carbon footprint of NMG Europe products developed for wind sector: Atlas HPE 110 and Atlas F 60, for wind blade application, are the first foam of its kind to be granted with an EPD in The International EPD System and its net of mutual recognitions. EPD is a Type 3 declaration according to EN-ISO 14025 and it’s granted by verification of accredited 3rd part.
