INEOS Composites expands its SMC Application lab with an SMC Line | NewsLIGHT #15 | INEOS Composites

Earlier this quarter, INEOS completed the acquisition of the Composites business from Ashland Global Holdings Inc. The newly created INEOS Composites business, global leader in unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins and gelcoats will now be part of INEOS group, one of the top 3 worldwide players in the chemical industry with 21,000 employees, 170+ manufacturing sites and serving multitude of markets such as automotive, adhesives, cosmetics and chemicals.

CEO INEOS Composites		 “Following our vision of becoming the world’s leading provider of SMC and BMC, we have invested to expand our European Research and Development center in Porvoo, Finland, with a state-of-the-art R&D SMC line which supports both glass and carbon fiber and can also be heated for testing different resin chemistries. With this further expansion of the application SMC lab, we can accelerate new product development, innovation and validation of products before launch. The lab will be able to replicate exact customer conditions and will significantly reduce the time-to-market for our products” said Steve Dossett, CEO INEOS Composites.

 

This SMC line is the last piece of equipment to support all steps of the value chain with devices for resins characterization, viscosity and thickening measurement, surface analysis, mechanical properties as well as a 1,000 KN press for molding. INEOS Composites scientists will now be able to test all analytical parameters of the resin and compound to better serve its EMEA based SMC/BMC customers.

INEOS Composites offers an extensive resin portfolio for the Transportation market based on unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester, low profile additive and resin systems with brands such as Arotran™, Derakane™ and Neulon™.
