First Workgroup Meeting “Composites in Buildings & Infrastructure”
Yesterday, on January 25th, AZL together with 90 participants from companies of the entire composite value chain, met for the initial Workgroup Meeting of the new AZL Workgroup “Composites in Buildings & Infrastructure”. As an outcome of the AZL joint market technology study “New Potentials for Composite Technologies in Buildings and Infrastructure”, the meeting aimed at turning insights from the study into a long-term workgroup collaboration and defining topics and initiatives for the joint cooperation in the field of process and manufacturing technologies, fire safety regulations, materials as well as standards and norms. Therefore, the meeting entailed industrial keynote presentations held by RMC – Radek Michalik Consulting, BÜFA Composite Systems, EconCore NV, Curve Works and Affan Innovative Structures L.L.C, that provided insights into buildings and infrastructure applications for composites. After our networking lunch and a small walking tour along the Campus-Boulevard (passing the new RWTH Aachen cluster buildings), the consortium worked on the topics mentioned above in form of rotating groups. This workshop session proved to be a fruitful collection of identified topics for future research and development. As integral part of AZL Workgroup Meetings, several breaks provided the space for networking among companies of the entire composite value chain.
