Technology Leader Nonwovens Europe (m/f/d)
The position is located in Wertheim in Germany, unlimited contract, full-time.
The Technology Leader is responsible for leading the Glass Nonwovens and Synthetic Nonwovens development teams with a focus in developing new products that address customers and market needs. This role will work closely with the Product Portfolio, Commercial and Manufacturing departments to achieve departmental, divisional and corporate objectives in a collaborative environment across a broad range of technologies and processes. In this role, management of six to eight direct reports is required. Occupational safety, health, fire and environmental regulations shall be complied with as well as contributions to their improvement rendered and compliance within the scope of responsibility enforced.
Your Tasks:
- Manage the product development project portfolio with project prioritization, technical resource allocations and budget control to meet the business goals. Collaboration with the commercial, manufacturing and process technology teams is required to be successful
- Lead the product development teams, manage direct reports, provide training and drive development of employees
- Lead new product scale-up and commercialization to address business segment strategies and divisional product roadmaps
- Lead teams to address product quality and customer complaints related to product fit for use issues and non-conformance
- Identify, recommend and manage research and development programs to support the overall business strategy and profitable operations
- Identify, recommend and implement best practices in determining un-met customer and market needs
- Follow best practices in portfolio and project management
- Define and implement equipment needs for the department
- Manage the department budgets
- Ensure that recruitment, development and training of personnel in this function meet the organization´s short- and long-term objectives
- Maintain knowledge of leading edge technology and research
Your Profile:
- Technical University degree, e. g. in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry or Physics. PhD not required but a plus
- Minimum of 10 years, experience in product & process development in the area of nonwovens, paper manufacturing, technical fabrics or similar as well as proven leadership skills, e. g. as a team leader in current role
- Expert knowledge in field of scope
- Customer-oriented with a strong sense for business opportunities and ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Creative, self-motivated personality with strong drive and passion for results
- Demonstrated ability to provide complex and innovative solutions to product development challenges (Solid)
- Ability to train, develop and motivate employees to assure operational flexibility and responsiveness, and increase technical knowledge (Solid)
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in German and English (Solid)
- Ability to work both independently and in team environment (Solid)
- Ability to work in a highly cross-functional and international environment (EU, USA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Mini Tab, Microsoft Project, etc.
- Ability and willingness to travel
