Market and Technology Studies

Artificial Intelligence in Design and Manufacturing

The study regarding Artificial Intelligence will be addressing the key trends in design and technology as well as identifying what is driving the AI market and how composite production processes of the future look like.

It will furthermore answer and define what current and upcoming technical requirements for implementing AI are and how it can be paired with composite manufacturing to see what added value can be generated through the use of AI in lightweight industries. Examples of success stories in composite material production and selected other processes will be researched and discussed in order to identify a potential additional benefit for the AI. Next Generation Mobility Solutions

AZL will also take the route to Next Generation Mobility Solutions with the new study addressing the possibilities of implementing new mobility solutions and the connection to composites. Within the study the AZL provides a market segmentation and analysis to discuss the most promising markets and applications.

The study provides a comprehensive investigation and documentation on the key trends and state-of-the-art solutions, applications, materials and technologies in the mobility market. Furthermore, it will reflect the technical requirements of these products.

In the project a technology matching will be carried out with the aim to present composite based production processes and materials that fit existing and upcoming mobility technologies and driving forces of the focused markets segments.

Joint Partner Projects

Inductive Double Belt Press Follow-up Project with Focus on Process Evaluations (Impregnation, Consolidation)

Within a Joint Partner Project which was successfully accomplished in May 2019, a prototype machine of an Inductive Double Belt Press was developed, designed and built. The general machine concept has been validated. The project comprises an upgrade and optimization of the system for advanced material and processing studies. Furthermore, it will include extensive material and processing studies for demonstration of wide applicability of a novel machine concept to identify which materials can be processed at which speeds, which requirements do exist using the material and which reproducibility can be achieved in impregnation and consolidation. It will also be examined how thermal process parameters influence the product quality and how the different pressure profiles enable different laminate types. Marketing and Development Tool: Creating higher-level system models for efficient calculation of KPIs

The second project starting in November aims to develop a system model based on parameters for efficient calculation of KPI’s. Within the project the specific challenges of a multi-material battery casing are investigated. During the investigations a concept of a system model including domain specific models is designed and the potential of various concepts with different materials and manufacturing processes with linked parameters will be identified, analyzed and evaluated.
