AZL Annual Partner Meeting 2019 – AZL Partner Network met on June 4th and 5th, 2019
The AZL thanks all participants for a successful 6th AZL Annual Partner Meeting.
More than 140 representatives of the more than 80 Partner Companies from 20 different countries came together for their strategic and networking meeting to define topics and activities for the coming year and to use the opportunity for networking with international decision makers and colleagues in the lightweight and composite sector.
In different sessions, the AZL Partner Companies and Institutes were updated on the activities of the previous year comprising meetings of our well-established Workgroups as well as Project Meetings of Joint Partner Projects during the two-day meeting in the Aachen football stadium Tivoli.
The AZL partners discussed soon to be launched Market- and Technology Studies and Joint Partner Projects focusing on lightweight technologies such like the “Inductive Double Belt Press Follow-Up Project with Focus on Process Evaluations” and „Artificial Intelligence in Design and Manufacturing”.
2-day program with lots of opportunities, networking and discussion
The two-day event began with two optional guided tours at the Production Engineering Cluster of RWTH Aachen University. The Lightweight Tour visited the machinery halls of four institutes cooperating with AZL. The Non-Lightweight Tour presented the Center for Wind Power Drives (CWD), the Cluster for Smart Logistics including the Reference Factory Industry 4.0 and the Photonics Cluster.
The other part of the 2-day meeting took place in the Business Lounge of the Aachen football stadium ‘Tivoli’ and included running partnership activities where the AZL Partner Companies could discuss various lightweight topics. The famous “Speed Dating” presentations were another highlight of the meeting. Each of the 20 speakers introduced and presented the network innovations or highlights in 6 minutes. Subsequently Prof. Dr. Georg Jacobs held a keynote presentation about “Model-based System Engineering as a solving approach for multi-model and multi-criteria optimization in material combinations”. The day was rounded off with a networking dinner in Aachen.
The second day was opened by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h.c. mult. Rüdiger, Rector of RWTH Aachen University and followed by various keynote presentations about digitalization strategies in plastics design and manufacturing, future mobility concepts and BMWi’s energy’s lightweighting initiative. After the second part of the “Speed Dating” presentations this year’s Annual Partner Meeting closed with a podium discussion of the future perspective on lightweight technologies.
