Study on “Composites in Buildings and Infrastructure” concludes and turns into AZL Workgroup

The Joint Market and Technology Study “New Potentials for Composite Technologies in Buildings and Infrastructure” finished with the Final Report Meeting on September 28th, 2017. AZL sets up a Workgroup in January 2018 which carries on the work on Composites in Buildings and Infrastructure.

The construction of buildings and infrastructure offers high potential for a novel usage of composite structures and components. Especially the current development of market conditions and technological opportunities allows for composite solutions to increase their market share and widen their field of application.

The Market and Technology Study “New Potentials for Composite Technologies in Buildings and Infrastructure” was initiated by AZL and started in November 2016, and finally concluded with its 3rd Report Meeting on September 28th, 2017. The study determined the key segments as well as the technologies/applications with the highest market and technological potential. Analyses of 20 market segments, investigation of 438 applications, technology analyses of 25 highlight components and 11 detailed business cases were elaborated during the study procedure. Additional to requirement analyses for materials and production technologies, new concepts for efficient profitable production technologies and cost engineering analysis were developed. Companies interested in the study results can contact Mr. Thomas Weiler.

Due to its importance for the composite industry, the AZL decided to set up a Workgroup called “Composites in Buildings and Infrastructure” and to keep the newly built community together and continue the work of the study in joint projects. The new Workgroup will continuously meet on a 6-month basis and will start with its kick-off meeting on January 25th, 2018. Interested partners are invited to join.
