9 AZL research institutes opened their doors for 100 participants of AZL Open Day
At yesterday’s AZL Open Day the 9 Partner Institutes of the AZL opened the doors of their machinery halls and research labs to provide an extensive and on-site insight into the research and development capacities in the field of lightweight production and composites at the RWTH Aachen Campus.
After a short introduction of all participants and an overview of the AZL network, the 100 participants visited 9 machinery halls in 6 rotating groups guided by the AZL team. In 4 hours of live demonstrations, more than 30 different lightweight and composite processes and technologies have been presented covering only a small part of the available equipment and know-how at the RWTH Aachen Campus in the field of lightweight production.
Besides representatives of AZL Partner Companies who already collaborate with the AZL and its Partner Institutes, representatives of other lightweight and composite players took part in the Open Day.
The tours offered updates on the latest lightweight production technologies and equipment in the field of textiles (ITA of RWTH Aachen), plastics and composite materials (IKV at RWTH Aachen), production technology (WZL of RWTH Aachen, Fraunhofer IPT, Fraunhofer ILT, and ISF of RWTH Aachen), quality assurance and production-integrated measurement technology (WZL), lightweight design (SLA of RWTH Aachen), automotive production (IKA of RWTH Aachen) as well as multi-material systems and process integration (AZL of RWTH Aachen).
